Trees for Trails

The WB MUD Facilities Committee has started an advisory group to get residents more involved to focus on adding trees on trail system that have been lost through age, weather, and climate changes.
The committee is once again accepting applications from residents interested in being part of the Trees for Trails ad hoc group. Completed applications may be turned in to the Recreation Center (3000 Shoreline Dr.). All applications must be submitted by July 1, 2013.

Ways you can Support the Trees for Trails Program
The Master Plan for Trees for Trails includes ways for residents, groups, and businesses to get involved to support the program and add more trees to the solution.
- ‘Buy a Tree’for the program will provide residents, groups and business to donate a tree to the program to be planted in one of the selected areas in the Master Plan. Each tree will have a plaque indicating the sponsor, or dedication for this donation.
- A 6 ft tree (15 gal size container; planted and watering) for $150
- An 8 to 12 ft tree (30 gal size container; planted and watering) for $300
- Become a Tree ’Parent’ of a small tree that you will nurture in your yard until it grows large enough to be transplanted. You may purchase a 2 to 5 gal tree of the approved species (or work with focus group to obtain a tree where donation levels will be based on current market price of specific varieties ). After a few years following the growing plan we’ll provide, the tree will be planted in the park in one of the selected areas and recognition plaque included to honor the tree ‘Parents’
- Support planted trees as part of the ‘Watering & Hugger Team’ that will take ownership of newly planted tree where irrigation is not available to regularly water the tree for 2 years until it can survive in natural weather climate. (recognition plaque, too)
- Good Neighbor Supporter does not require any extra work on the neighbors part. Just become a better recycler by putting all the items you can into the new Blue Recycle Bins as part of our IESI Trash & Recycleprogram.
- The top of the new blue cans show all the added products that are now included and the MUD receives rebates for each ton of materials we put in the program.
- The rebate funds are dedicated to Trees for Trails!
- Throw your change into collection containers at local events in Wells Branch
- Trees for Trails booth at Fourth Fest; Fund raiser by Garden Club 4th Fest
