She was a founding member of Capital Area Suburban Exchange (CASE), serving as president during the first 2 formative years. Joy Smith has been a resident of
Wells Branch since 1989. She is currently serving her third term as
a MUD Board Director, having first been elected in 1998. Joy is the
chair of the Facilities committee and serves on the Finance and
Recreation committees.
Joy was elected to the MUD Board after two terms as Neighborhood
Association President, as well as numerous years prior to that as a
WBNA Board member. She continues her involvement in the community,
attending and enjoying as many Wells Branch functions as possible.
One of her only regrets at holding elected position is that she is
no longer eligible to serve as election judge, a position she held
for 8 years. But, the benefits far outweigh the negatives, as Joy
has been involved in most of the recent improvements implemented in
our neighborhood, such as the new fence, and the indoor recreation
center.
An educational consultant for Region 13 Educational Service Center,
and a former teacher, Joy is constantly searching for opportunities
for Wells Branch youth. She holds a BBA and an M.Ed from the
University of Texas. Joy, divorced, owns a home on Castle View Drive
after enjoying apartment living in Wells Branch for three years.
Prior to that, she lived on busy Wells Port for 11 years. |
